About Us

Freeborn Designs was founded in 2016 by James Freeborn. After years of traveling and experiencing diverse cultures, James recognized a lack of unique expression in traditional menswear. He aspired to create an assortment of vibrant, distinctive suits that allow men to showcase their individual personalities beyond the conventional black, gray, and navy color palettes.

To turn this vision into reality, James partnered with a respected family of fifth-generation tailors in Faridabad, India. Over nearly nine years, Freeborn Designs has evolved into a nationally recognized brand, known for its commitment to creativity and quality. Initially making an impact at music festivals across the country, the company reached a significant milestone with the opening of its first brick-and-mortar store in the Castro District of San Francisco in July 2021.

At Freeborn Designs, we prioritize exceptional craftsmanship and outstanding customer service. We proudly own our manufacturing equipment in collaboration with our partners in India. Our latest addition is a 60-inch CAD power loom, which allows us to produce premium fabrics in-house. Additionally, our dedication to quality extends to our choice of materials, advanced sewing machines, and a newly acquired 12-head embroidery machine, capable of producing intricate designs.
